New Educational Fun From Montgomery Schoolhouse

The Montgomery Schoolhouse line continues to reinforce the "learning through play" with the new Shape Sorter.

Middlebury, VT—What started out as a simple activity for children at a local wood products showcase, has become the latest new product from Maple Landmark. A hardwood board with 4 geometric slots and vividly colored shaped blocks provided children of all ages with hours of fun.

The Shape Sorter, sold under the Montgomery Schoolhouse name, is a more compact version of the original sorting station. The 20 piece Shape Sorter comes with five of each of the following shape pieces: round, square, rectangle, and triangle with each shape in one of four basic colors—red, green, blue, and green. The blocks are crafted from rock maple and are finished using non-toxic colors and sealer. The Shape Sorter has a durable plastic bottom and a hardwood top mounted to a rugged screw cover for easy on and off during play. The Shape Sorter measures approximately 6" high and 6" in diameter. A perfect size for little hands.

The blocks are crafted from rock maple and are finished using non toxic colors "Children played for hours at our showcase," commented Mike Rainville, owner of Maple Landmark. "Some would start by first sorting all one color then another, while others would do a pattern of sorting and still others would build something with the blocks first and then tear it down by sorting them into the right spot." Rainville went on to say, "I think adults forget that kids still like to play with simple things—empty boxes, pots and pans. Children learn through play. They create their own patterns, systems and even rules. Our Shape Sorter allows them to do what they want how they want with minimal set-up or supervision needed."

Montgomery Schoolhouse toys have been known to generations for high quality toys that help children explore and learn about their world and the world around them.
