New NameTrains cars coming soon!

For the first time since their introduction 33 yeas ago, our NameTrains cars are getting an update. After a long and thoughtful process we are making several changes, for both modern production reasons and improved aesthetics. We biggest thing you will notice is a metal axle and hubcap system that will enhance their rolling performance.

We are staging out the change, over time, across our national network. A growing share of our retail dealers has the new style, and the swaps will continue throughout 2026.

We still support the older style, and our own website will continue to offer those, not both, while we are getting the new ones to our dealers. In the meantime, if you have any needs or questions, feel free to contact us.

What are the key changes?

1. New metal axle system for easier rolling.

    

2. Laser cut shapes (leading to a dark edge).

    

3. Better letter definition, including an etched “bottom” to the letters.

    

4. New, brighter colors in water-based finishes.

    

What doesn’t change?

1. Still made from hard maple, including the wheels themselves.

    

2. Still made in USA, with some imported non-wood parts.

    

3. Still the same size and general design.
