Middlebury, VT—The Travel Channel's MADE IN AMERICA series, hosted by John Ratzenberger, will feature Maple Landmark Woodcraft, on June 15th at 9 p.m. Maple Landmark Woodcraft is the only wooden toy and gift company that still manufactures it's internationally successful classic wooden toys, games, and gifts right here in America.
"Many, many Americans are familiar with our products and it is great to have the opportunity to tell our story through the eyes of John," said Michael Rainville, founder and President. "Each job is important and it takes a special skill and it is nice to be recognized for it," continued Rainville. "While many of our jobs are not difficult per se they are challenging because we are the only ones doing what we do," said Rainville, "there is no one out there to solve our problems—we have to rely on ourselves and create solutions all the time. I guess that really is Yankee ingenuity!"
In each episode the Travel Channel's MADE IN AMERICA viewers get an intimate portrait of the American worker, focusing on the craft and the level of skill; pride and dedication workers bring to the manufacturing process. "These are the people who really built America, who get up every morning and work their hearts out every day," says host John Ratzenberger. "They get their hands dirty and they are great at what they do. They take pride in their workmanship, and there's nothing like it." The folks at Maple Landmark have been showing off their fine workmanship for over 25 years.
Maple Landmark grew from simple roots, sprouting from the imagination of a young boy in the basement of his parent's home, in the mountains of Lincoln, Vermont. What started out as a hobby, has evolved into a passion and a company, that employs more than thirty local folks (several which are family). Proud of its roots, Maple Landmark constantly works toward their goals of crafting high quality wooden toys and games while still being mindful of their part in stewardship of the land and it's resources. "Customers respond to what we are trying to do here. High quality, American made wooden toys and games are really a novelty these days with the all of the plastic goods that come in from overseas," stated Rainville.
