Maple Landmark knows their ABC's

ABC wooden blocks are selected as a Dr. Toy Best Classic Toy for 2004.

Middlebury, VT—What can be more classic than a set of ABC blocks? Nothing says "Dr. Toy" and that's why she chose the Montgomery Schoolhouse ABC Blocks from Maple Landmark as one of the 24 classic toys of 2004.

Each of the 28 hardwood, maple blocks are printed with letters, numbers and illustrations to maximize learning potential. Children can see a picture of an apple with the word apple and then they can spell it for themselves. Making the connections from their everyday world to the world of reading, writing and arithmetic is critical to a child's development.

In the search for the best classic toys of 2004, Dr. Toy says she looks for "classic toys that are enduring and have many benefits. They encourage the child's involvement and are child-powered."

A wide-variety of selections are included among this year's winners. The old reliable stand-bys like the hula hoop, Frisbee and Etch A Sketch along with the newer Calculator Cash Register and the Gavitts Stock Exchange game were honored along with Maple Landmark. "These toys are perfect for all ages and interests from baby to older children, from low to high tech and from nature to nurture," stated Dr. Toy.
