12/15/2012 - For Immediate Release
Middlebury, VT—Each year the organizers of the New York International Gift Fair work with Shaw+Co! Productions to select products and companies that are operating in a sustainable way. This year, for the January 2013 New York International Gift Fair, Shaw+Co! Productions have chosen Maple Landmark Woodcraft and their newly redesigned NameTrain™ buildings.
The SustainAbility: design for a better world exhibit features four criteria: "green"—products that are manufactured from recycled, recyclable or sustainable materials, "environmentally-friendly production process"—processes that use alternative energy sources for their production, and "socially-responsible business practices"—products made by indigenous peoples creating a sustainable living situation, and/or manufacturers that donate a percentage of profits to charitable organizations, and newly added "zero tolerance" category that speaks to coatings and product additives—VOC, lead, PVC and chemicals like formaldehyde and chlorine.
The NameTrain™ buildings were chosen in the "green" products category. Each building is crafted from locally, sustainably harvested hardwood maple, sanded smooth with printed details on the front and back. The buildings are a wonderful accessory to the NameTrain track and letters to create a whole NameTrain world.
